Honda recently launched the Honda City Hatchback in the Thai market, the latest Honda City iteration is also expected to be introduced in other Asian markets as well as the South American market in the coming year, but now a report suggests that Honda could be planning to replace the Honda Jazz with the Honda City Hatchback in the Malaysian market in 2021. Sources believe that the Honda Jazz in its fourth-generation will not make it to the Asia-Oceania markets. This could also mean that the Jazz in India is not likely to be upgraded into the next-generation and the Honda City Hatchback could replace the model. The next-generation Jazz is believed to be developed only for the Japanese and the European markets and the Asian markets as well as other emerging markets may not receive the next-generation avatar. The new Honda City Hatchback is likely to have been developed with the intention of axing the Jazz from the markets where it could be replaced by the City Hatchback. The report also suggests that the latest generation Jazz is too radical for the emerging market to accept it, and the new bulbous shape was not taken well in Malaysia when the car was unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. The Honda City Hatchback, on the other hand, is based on the 5th generation Honda City but features a completely new rear section that comes with a Z-signature LED tail lamps a sharply raked rear windshield, LED headlamps, new 16-inch alloy wheels, new bumper and a tailgate-mounted spoiler on the sportier RS version. The Honda City Hatchback also features a centrally-mounted 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Honda CONNECT technology, Google Maps, Apple CarPlay, tactile rotary air-conditioning controls, 60:40 split rear seats etc. For the Indian market, it is still unclear if Honda would keep updating the Jazz or bring the new Honda City Hatchback, but the ideal replacement would be the Honda ZR-V crossover which could make its debut in May 2021.
