Suzuki Motorcycle India has updated its GSX-8R to comply with OBD-2B emission regulations without sacrificing performance. The 2025 GSX-8R remains priced at INR 9.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it one of the most competitive middleweight sportbikes in India2.

Engine and performance

The GSX-8R continues to be powered by a 776cc parallel-twin engine, delivering 81.8 hp at 8,500 rpm and 78 Nm of torque at 6,800 rpm. The 270-degree crankshaft provides a torquey powerband and a V-twin-like exhaust note, enhancing the bike’s character.

Suzuki’s patented Cross Balancer system minimizes vibrations, ensuring a smoother ride, especially on long-distance journeys. The bi-directional quick shifter and ride-by-wire throttle further refine the riding experience.

Advanced features and electronics

The GSX-8R is equipped with Suzuki’s Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.), offering:

  • Three riding modes to adjust power delivery.
  • Four-step traction control for enhanced stability.
  • Dual-channel ABS for improved braking confidence.
  • Low RPM Assist, preventing stalling at low speeds.

The bike also features a 5-inch TFT display, providing clear visibility of essential ride data.

Suspension and braking

Suzuki has retained the SHOWA SFF-BP inverted front forks and link-type mono-shock rear suspension, ensuring precise handling and comfort. The dual 310mm front discs with radial-mounted calipers provide strong braking performance, making the GSX-8R a capable machine for spirited riding.

Design and styling

The GSX-8R sports an aggressive mass-forward silhouette, complemented by:

  • Vertically stacked LED headlights for a distinctive look.
  • Aerodynamic windscreen, improving high-speed stability.
  • Forged aluminum handlebars, enhancing control and rider posture.

Suzuki offers the GSX-8R in three color options—Metallic Triton Blue, Metallic Matte Sword Silver, and Metallic Matte Black No.2.

Market position and rivals

The GSX-8R competes with the Triumph Daytona 660, Kawasaki Ninja 650, and Aprilia RS 660, offering a balance of comfort, performance, and technology. Despite the OBD-2B update, Suzuki has kept the pricing unchanged, making it a strong contender in the middleweight sportbike segment.
