Suzuki crosses 8 million unit production milestone for two-wheeler in India

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), the two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, today marked the production of 8 million two-wheelers in India, setting a new milestone in the company’s history.

SMIPL’s Journey to 8 Million Units

SMIPL commenced its operations in India in February 2006, with the mass production of its flagship scooter, the Suzuki Access 125, at its production facility located at Kherki Dhaula in Gurgaon. The company has since remained committed to developing and providing products of superior value, best suited for its customers.

The company’s dedication and customer-centric approach bore fruit when it achieved its first 4 million production milestone within 13 years of operation. Building upon this success, SMIPL accelerated its growth, manufacturing the next 4 million units in less than 6 years.

Notably, SMIPL achieved its 8 million production milestone in the 19th year of its operation, with the last 1 million units added in just one year.

Suzuki Diverse Product Range

SMIPL currently manufactures a diverse range of scooters and motorcycles for both Indian and international markets. Its domestic line-up ranges from 125 cc scooters (Access 125, Avenis, Burgman Street & Burgman Street SX) to 150 cc-250 cc motorcycles (Gixxer & Gixxer SF, Gixxer 250 & Gixxer 250 SF and V-Strom SX), and Big Bikes ranging from 800 cc & above (recently launched V-Strom 800 DE, Katana & Hayabusa).
