Mumbai based electric mobility company Strom Motors has introduced the Strom R3 a three-wheeled two-seater electric vehicle targeted towards audience looking for an eco-friendly compact personal mobility solution which does not require a large parking space and has car-like features such as weather protection and climate control air conditioning among others.
In terms of its exterior dimensions, the Strom R3 measures 2907mm in length, 1450mm in width, 1572mm in height and is made of a high-strength steel space frame with two wheels in the front and a single rear wheel at the rear. The R3 features swept-back combination headlamps, a flat apron, a wide glasshouse for all-round visibility, a glass sunroof, an integrated roof spoiler, rounded taillamps and an electric charging point on the rear.
The Strom R3 features MacPherson strut suspension on the front and dual shock absorbers on the rear wheel. Braking duties are handled by hydraulic disc brakes on each wheel at the front and a drum brake on the rear wheel.
Powering the Strom R3 is a 15 kW electric AC motor that produces 90 Nm of torque and comes with an integrated single-speed gearbox that can propel the electric vehicle to speeds of up to 80 kmph (Electronically Limited). The car comes with electronic regenerative braking along with drive by wire technology. The electric powertrain is paired to a lithium-ion battery pack that claims 100,000+ Km of life span and the R3 comes with a range option of up to 200 km on a single charge. The batteries can be replenished in 3 hours using an on-board charger.
On the interiors, the Strom is fully laden with comfort and convenience features such as centrally-mounted 7-inch vertically oriented touchscreen for infotainment, 4.3 & 2.4-Inch digital auxiliary touchscreens with a fully customisable interface, 4G connectivity and onboard GPS navigation, voice control, gesture control, mobile connectivity features, 20GB onboard music storage, IOT enabled continuous monitoring system, climate control AC, power windows etc.
The Strom R3 was slated to be launched in March 2020 but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the Govt imposed lockdown the plans to launch the electric vehicle have been postponed to a later unconfirmed date. The EV is expected to be launched around the INR 4.5 lakh mark in India.
