Spotted again, Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 testing in production form

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

We are aware that Royal Enfield has plans of bringing in a slew of models. Currently, it is testing a new Bullet 350, Himalayan 450, Scrambler 450, Himalayan 650, Scram 650, Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, with more to come. After bringing in the Super Meteor 650, they updated the Interceptor 650 and 650 GT earlier this year. It seems Royal Enfield is working on its 650cc portfolio with another offer. We believe this could very well be the Shotgun 650. As of now, there have been multiple test mules reported of that in 2022.

Near-Production Version Of Shotgun 650 In Spotted In Flesh

Recently, we got to see a near-production version of Shotgun 650 that was spotted testing on road. Thus making us believe that an imminent launch is in process. We first got to see the Shotgun 650 at EICMA 2021. And since then, it has been a highly anticipated motorcycle.

The near-production test mule spotted recently pretty much retains much of the concept’s look. This RE motorcycle carries the muscular look all along. One can say that it shares its outlook very closely with the recently launched Super Meteor as well.

Overall Outlook Of The Motorcycle

As we understand, Royal Enfield has plans to launch multiple new 650cc motorcycles. Of course, each of them will have a different character with noticeable differences as well. Even though the headlights look similar, Shotgun 650 uses a different headlight housing. This is made of machined aluminium like on the Scram 411. The fuel tank too is different, and so is the rear section. Tail light housings too look quite similar, but on Shotgun 650 test mules, the turn indicators are closer to tail light than seen in Super Meteor. The riding position is a bit more relaxed, thus lending Shotgun 650 a different rider triangle.

Engine And Mechanical Highlights

When launched, Royal Enfield could offer a single-seat option as well. The engine option is the same 648cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine. This motor makes 47 BHP of power and 52 Nm of torque. But we believe we could see a slightly different tune on Royal Enfield’s upcoming 650cc Shotgun, suiting its character. The transmission setup consists of a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. Features on offer might include a USB socket to charge mobile phones. Speaking of connectivity, we expect Shotgun 650 to get Bluetooth connectivity and GPS. This will enable it to have turn-by-turn navigation as standard fitment.

Price, India Launch And Rivals

When launched, Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 will rival the likes of other neo-retro-styled motorcycles like Kawasaki Z650RS, Benelli Leoncino 500 and the like. Royal Enfield 650cc Shotgun price could retail with a price tag of around INR 4 lakh (ex-sh).
