MG EV cars popular in South India – Why?
Speaking of the stats first, as per the company, it sold 22,646 total units of its electric cars in 2024. However, 10,698 units were standalone sold in the southern part of India.
The most number of EV cars were sold in the state of Karnataka, followed by Telangana, and then Kerala, respectively. Converting the total number into a percentage, it accumulates up to 47.22 per cent of total EV sales.
Now, why are MG electric cars so popular in South India? The primary reason is the charging network, MG’s BaaS battery rental plans, and customer buying inclination.
While there is no official report that clarifies it, we can safely assume that the charging network down south has always been ahead of North India. In addition, the battery rental option has also proven to be a boon for EV buyers with low annual running.
Additionally, the South Indian buyers are known for their tech-savvy needs, which MG cars satisfy neatly. In fact, EV models like Windsor are fully loaded with advanced tech features like a big infotainment screen, reclining rear seats, and more.
Not to mention, MG India’s superb after sales support has been omnipresent for customers, which makes the ownership even more easy and enjoyable for new buyers.
