Hoshiarpur-headquartered multinational tractor manufacturing company, Sonalika has launched the country’s first field-ready electric tractor which has been dubbed ‘Tiger Electric’ at an introductory price of INR 5.99 lakh ex-showroom. The Tiger Electric tractor brings a new era of Agri innovation in the country and is farmer-centric. The brand boasts that the farm tractor has been designed in Europe and developed in-house and promises to deliver seamless power without noise and emission.
The Sonalika Tiger Electric claims to be India’s first electric tractor powered by a 25.5 kW air-cooled compact battery pack with IP67 Ingress Protection from dust and water and requires only a quarter of the running costs as opposed to diesel-powered field tractors. The battery can be charged in 10 hours using a conventional charging point at home. Optionally, the brand is also offering a fast-charging system that is capable of recharging the Tiger Electric in just 4 hours. This also reduces the customer’s effort of driving down to the petrol station.
The Sonalika Tiger Electric uses a highly efficient Etrac motor with the high power density and high peak torque. The motor does not drop the RPM offering optimal performance. The powerful electric motor also ensures that 100% torque is available on-demand at any load condition. The availability of extra torque in the working range translates to amplified performance of the farmer at the fields without fatigue.
The Tiger Electric tractor has been equipped with Sonalika transmission that offers a top speed of 24.93 kmph and a battery range of 8 hours on a single charge while operating a 2-tonne trolley. The innovative electric farm tractor also reduces the farmer’s fatigue and offers more comfort as no heat is transferred from the power unit to the operator as well as a lesser number of moving parts means fewer vibrations. This not only ensures the operator’s productivity is enhanced but also the zero maintenance tractor reduces the downtime as well as costs.
The Tiger Electric farm tractor is produced at Sonalika’s vertically integrated tractor manufacturing facility equipped with robotics and automation in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The brand has also announced that the booking on the Sonalika Tiger Electric is now open.
