Skoda’s new design language seen in the upcoming Elroq

Written by News Team

Skoda Auto has introduced its new design language, aptly named “Modern Solid,” which will debut in the upcoming Elroq electric vehicle (EV). This new aesthetic direction marks a significant evolution for the Czech automaker.

A Fresh Face for Skoda

The Elroq, set to be unveiled later this year, is the first model to fully embody Skoda’s Modern Solid design language. This new approach is characterized by a more purposeful and robust appearance, aimed at giving Skoda vehicles a distinctive and modern look. One of the standout features of this design language is the “Tech-Deck Face,” a reimagined front grille that is flatter and wider, providing a more streamlined and futuristic appearance.

Exterior Highlights

The Elroq’s exterior design features split headlights with advanced Matrix LED technology. The sleek bumper intakes and the new bonnet lettering further accentuate the vehicle’s modern aesthetic. The Elroq will ride on 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels, adding to its dynamic stance.

Interior Innovations

Inside, the Elroq is designed with eco-friendly materials, including recycled plastics and fabrics. The centerpiece of the interior is a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen, complemented by physical buttons for essential functions like climate control.

Powertrain and Performance

Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, the Elroq offers a range of powertrain options to suit different needs. At launch, it will feature an 82 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated range of over 300 miles. A more budget-friendly 58 kWh option is expected to follow. The Elroq will be available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, with power outputs ranging from 168 hp to 295 hp.

Market Positioning and Competition

The Elroq is positioned as a compact electric SUV, set to compete with models like the Volvo EX30 and the MG 4 EV. It will sit below the Skoda Enyaq in the brand’s lineup, offering a more affordable entry point into Skoda’s electric vehicle range. Pricing is expected to be between £30,000 and £35,000, making it an attractive option for those looking to transition to electric mobility without breaking the bank.
