Skoda Auto India has tied up with social media giant Twitter to launch a new game named ‘Speed Challenge’. The aim of the game is to type a sentence in a time which takes the Octavia vRS 245 to go from 0-100 kmph which is 6.6 seconds. This would be the first time that such a partnership has happened between a social media company and an automotive company.
Each user has to visit a microsite to experience the game and follow on as per the instructions provided on the website. The results will be shared as soon as the allotted 6.6 seconds are over, and the user will have an option to replay the game or tweet the score which they achieved. Skoda Auto has announced that the winners will be eligible to get Skoda merchandise as prizes. This game will start on the 14th of December and run for an entire week and conclude on 21st December.
The vRS 245, is the fastest Skoda on sale in India. It is powered by the Volkswagen Group’s EA888 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor making 245 HP of power and 370 Nm of twisting force. The gearbox is a new 7-speed DSG unit and the power from the motor is channelled to all four wheels. This sports sedan is a CBU (Completely Built Unit) and thus comes at a premium as opposed to the RS230.
The interiors do offer a lot of premium features which makes it a practical sports car as well. It comes equipped with an auto LED headlamps, virtual cockpit, a slick touchscreen with Android and Apple connectivity, ambient lighting, driving modes, nine airbags, ESP, cruise control and more. The RS230 came with 17-inches wheels meanwhile the vRS245 wears 18-inchers but Skoda claims that the ground clearance at 141 mm is identical in both the cars. The boot at 590-litres is big enough to carry a lot of luggage.
The closest rival to this car is the BMW 330i, priced at INR 42.30 lakhs whereas the vRS245 is priced at INR 36.00 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
