Keeping the very demanding mass market aside for now, Skoda is focussing on the enthusiast. The brand has revealed that the Octavia RS is coming back to India, but this time in the full sporty spec. Skoda had first announced the Octavia RS in India back in 2017, but all of the 500 cars brought to India got sold out very soon. The brand is now bringing in 200 units of the Skoda Octavia RS 245 which will be even more sporty than the model sold before.
The Skoda RS 245 will come to India as a CBU import. This hints at an on-road price tag well above INR 30 lakh, which will make it expensive than before. However, the enthusiasts will surely get more bang for the buck. The Octavia RS 245 will come powered to a 2.0L TSI petrol engine producing 245 HP of power and 370 Nm of torque which is more than the 2017 Octavia RS which we got. Matched to a 7-speed DSG gearbox, this Octavia RS 245 will sprint to 100 kmph from a standstill in 6.6 seconds with a top whack of 250 kmph. The brand claims a mileage of 6.5L / 100 km.
This model will come with a BSVI compliant motor and will be a front-wheel drive sports sedan. The Octavia RS 245 will run on 18′ alloy wheels with sporty tyres and will measure 4689mm in length, 1814mm in width, 1448mm in height and 2686mm in wheelbase. This model will come with a new RS seat upholstery, sports suspension setup, black accents, ambient lights, performance mode select, 9.2″ infotainment, etc. Other standard equipment will include LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamp, rear spoiler, stability control, multiple airbags, cruise control, paddle shifts, etc.
One point to note, Skoda has already revealed the new-generation Octavia for the world. But this Octavia RS 245 which we will get in our market is based on the old generation. Still, why complain when you can smoke some rubber…
