Skoda Slavia Vs. Honda City – Safety Features Comparison

Skoda recently launched its new premium mid-size sedan that Slavia in the Indian market. The Skoda Slavia sits above the Skoda Rapid and below the Skoda Octavia in the sedan portfolio. The much-awaited sedan also comes with comprehensive safety features making it one of the safest car in the segment. Japanese manufacturer, Honda also launched the 5th generation City in the Indian market, which is the direct competitor to the Skoda Slavia. We have already covered Skoda Slavia Vs. Skoda Slavia Vs. Honda City – Price

The Skoda Slavia comes with a starting price of INR 10.69 lakh ex-showroom. The top-of-the-line model goes up to INR 15.39 lakh ex-showroom. The Honda City 5th generation comes with a starting price tag of INR 11.23 lakh ex-showroom. Unlike the Skoda Slavia, Honda offers the City in both petrol and diesel engine options. The top-spec petrol engine has a sticker price of INR 14.98 lakh ex-showroom. The diesel range starts from INR 12.83 lakh ex-showroom and goes up to INR 15.18 lakh ex-showroom.

The Skoda Slavia comes with six airbags, including optional front side airbags and head curtain airbags and a rigid body shell. The brand also offers the sedan with Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Differential System, Multi Collision Brake, Automatic brake disc cleaning, Hill-Hold Control, Cruise Control, Auto headlamps and wipers, Parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX anchorages.

On the other hand, the Honda City comes with features such as a 6-airbag system with the world’s first i-SRS Airbag System and Quick Deployment Technology. The car also features ultra high strength tensile steel plates in its frame and also gets the first-in-segment LaneWatch camera system. The Honda City also comes with vehicle stability management, agile handling assist, hill start assist, automatic headlamps, TPMS etc.

New Car Assessment Programme – Crash Safety Ratings

The Skoda Slavia is yet to receive the NCAP crash safety rating. But we believe that with a number of safety features as standard and the MQB-A0-IN underpinnings, the Slavia will score a good to excellent rating at the NCAP. On the other hand, the 5th generation Honda City has received a full 5-star safety rating at the ASEAN NCAP. The ASEAN NCAP rating for the City is valid in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines and Brunei.
