Shreyas will travel to Prague to meet Skoda’s Head of Design along with meeting Mr Oliver Stephani at Skoda’s headquarters. Skoda will also use Shreyas’ camouflage design on the newest testing prototype. The prototype in question is Skoda’s upcoming new midsize premium sedan, Slavia.

Camouflage With Skoda Runners-Up

Ben Stewart, the runner-up of the competition from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, won a design tablet from Skoda. The other three finalists, namely Prateek Sethi (Pune, Maharashtra), Rohit Bhandwalkar (Pune, Maharashtra), and Riju Karunakaran (Bengaluru, Karnataka), won Skoda branded gift bags. Skoda opened the entries for the competition on 5th August 2021, where participants submitted their camouflage designs. Participants submitted over 200 designs from across India during the duration of the competition, which lasted till 18th August 2021.

Before the winner’s announcement, the Judges inspected the top 5 shortlisted designs via the production, durability, and applicability processes. The contest judges were Mr Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director of SAVWIPL, Mr Zac Hollis, Brand Director of Skoda Auto India, and Mr Oliver Stefani, Head of Design of Design Skoda Auto India. The evaluation process of every submitted design consisted of various parameters led by creative and technical experts.

Post-evaluation, the attributes of the judged designs consisted of innovation, aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics, impact, utility, and the emotional quotient. Any individual above the age of 18 comprising design students, design studios, companies, universities, and design professionals could participate in the competition. Shreyas’ winning design concept consisted of two Indian motifs- the Peacock and the Lotus, Czech glass art, and Cubism. Ben’s runner-up design drew inspiration from the simplicity of basic regular shapes, themed over the contrasting Skoda colour palette.

The upcoming Skoda Slavia: First Look

Skoda has revealed its new midsize segment premium sedan, the Slavia, in the flesh but wrapped up in the newly designed camouflage. The Slavia is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform specifically used on their new and upcoming products for India. The first look reveals the new sedan featuring smoked headlamps with high-mounted circular fog lamps and a butterfly-design radiator grille. The car’s front design bears significant resemblance to the recently released Octavia and highlights the conventional door handles.

The camo-wrapped Slavia also reveals other details, such as the fuel filler being on the right-hand side, a shark-fin antenna on top, and multi-spoke black alloy wheels. The car also features rounded wheel arches and chunky ORVMs, and a progressive roofline. Despite the interiors not being revealed by Skoda as of yet, the camouflaged Slavia gives a glimpse of dual-tone interiors.
