Written by Parichay Malvankar

Skoda has just launched the sportier Monte Carlo edition of the Slavia Sedan. The Slavia Monte Carlo not only comes with changes to the exteriors but also gets a new interior theme as well as a sportier colour theme on the virtual cockpit. The bookings for the Slavia Monte Carlo are already open and prices for the Skoda Slavia Monte Carlo start from INR 15.79 lakh ex-showroom and goes upto INR 18.49 lakh ex-showroom.

For this price you just don’t pay for the car and its extra features but, what you actually pay is for the coveted “Monte Carlo” badge that Skoda has acquired the rights to use from the Principality of Monaco. So, you not only get a very sporty and cool looking sedan but also the exclusivity the Monte Carlo badge brings in with it.

Powertrain

Powering the Skoda Slavia Monte Carlo are two engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI (Turbocharged Stratified Injection) turbo-petrol engine that produces 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque matched to either a 6-speed manual or a torque converter type 6-speed automatic. Alongside this, the brand also offers the Slavia Monte Carlo with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI turbo-petrol engine that pumps 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque matched to a 7-speed DSG (Dual Clutch) automatic gearbox.

In this video review, we drove the Skoda Slavia Monte Carlo with the more larger and more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine with the DSG transmission on the Buddh International Circuit to celebrate Skoda’s 112 years of motorsport legacy. This is Skoda’s 3rd Monte Carlo badged product in the Indian market after the Rapid and the Kushaq, out of which the latter is still on sale.

Skoda Slavia & Kushaq Sportline

In addition to the Skoda Slavia Monte Carlo, the brand also launched the Sportline variants of the Skoda Slavia and the Kushaq in India starting at INR 14.05 lakh ex-showroom for the Slavia and INR 14.70 lakh for the Kushaq. The Sportline trims also come with similar exterior styling enhancements as the Monte Carlo, but lack features specific to the Monte Carlo.
