The Skoda Superb has been in the market for quite some time and now since it’s last update which was nearly 5 years ago the brand has now given the car a mid-life upgrade and showcased the new Superb facelift at the Auto Expo 2020.
The 2020 facelift Skoda Superb looks the same in terms of its body design but comes with a new chrome-accented grille, new redesigned front bumpers, a full matrix LED headlight, chrome trim that runs between the LED taillights etc. Other features include bumper integrated LED foglights and corner lights, LED daytime running lights and turn indicator lights, 19-inch alloy wheels etc. On the interior, the 2020 facelift model includes an updated touchscreen infotainment system, virtual cockpit instruments cluster, ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charging etc.
The Sportline variant of the car was also displayed which gets a blacked-out grille, boot-lid lip spoiler, sporty design 19-inch alloy wheels, dark-themed interiors, flat bottomed steering wheel and Alcantara leather upholstery.
In the engine department, the Skoda Superb gets a BS6 emission compliant 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol motor which generates 190 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque coupled to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Skoda displayed the Superb Sportline variant with a diesel engine – a 2.0-litre TDI turbocharged direct injection diesel engine that produces 190 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. But speculations are that Skoda is going to discontinue their diesel line-up post-implementation of BS6 emission standards.
The Skoda Superb is expected to be launched around May 2020 with a price tag of INR 26 lakh to INR 30 lakh ex-showroom.
In related news, Skoda also unveiled the BS6 compliant Kodiaq at the Auto Expo 2020 and launched the Skoda Octavia RS with a 245 PS power engine at the price of INR 35.99 lakh ex-showroom and the car will be limited to only 200 units.
