Skoda Auto India has announced that it will open the bookings for the Skoda Octavia RS 245 on 1st of March 2020 at 12 noon through a centralized online platform. The Skoda RS 245 can be reserved using a dedicated portal with a booking fee of INR 1 lakh. Skoda Auto India will sell only 200 examples of the Octavia RS 245 making it one of the most exclusive performance cars in the country available at a relatively affordable price of INR 35.99 lakh ex-showroom, India.
First things first, the Skoda Octavia RS 245 is powered by a 2.0 TSI turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 245 ps of power and 370 Nm of torque matched to a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. The power is transferred to the wheels through an electronically regulated VAQ (Vorderachsquersperre) limited-slip differential that can make the Octavia RS 245 sprint from 0-100 kmph in 6.6 seconds and the car can do an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. The Octavia RS 245 features a vRS Mode button that alters the engine, stability control and electronic assistants’ characteristics for a more sporty driving experience. When compared to the Octavia model range in India the Octavia RS 245 is also 15mm lower thanks to its sports chassis.
The Octavia RS 245 was launched at the Auto Expo 2020 and sports a butterfly front grille with a piano black bezel, a wide honeycomb-mesh air dam and two meshed air intakes that flank the vRS splitter style bumper. The car features quadra LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights. When viewed from the profile the Octavia RS 245 features 18-inch alloy wheels, piano black ORVM housings and has a coupe-like silhouette. On its rear, the Octavia RS 245 comes with a gloss black spoiler on the tailgate, C-shaped LED tail lamps and trapezoidal exhaust tips. The car is distinguished by the ‘vRS’ logo on the tailgate and the front grille, where the ‘V’ stands for Victory.
On the inside, the Octavia RS 245 features a carbon treatment in the cabin, black Alcantara leather upholstery, twelve-way electrically-adjustable driver and front passenger seats with lumbar support and three programmable memory functions for the driver seat, ambient lighting with 10 colours, three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel, Skoda’s ‘Virtual Cockpit’ fully digital driver’s display with Classic, Basic, Extended, Modern, and Sports display options. The Skoda Octavia RS 245 also comes with dual-zone climate control, a centrally mounted 20.32 cm touchscreen infotainment system with Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
For safety, the Octavia RS 245 features nine airbags that include dual front, driver knee airbag and side and curtain airbags for both the front and rear passengers. The car also comes with a plethora of active and passive safety systems such as Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Electronic Stability Control, Multi Collision Brake, Mechanical Brake Assist with Hydraulic Brake Assist, Anti Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock along with other automotive-standard safety features as per the Govt. of India mandate.
The Skoda Octavia RS 245 will be available in 5 exterior paint options – Candy White, Race Blue, Rallye Green, Corrida Red, and Magic Black.
