According to a media report, the powerful Skoda Octavia RS is likely to be reintroduced in the Indian market and this time with a more powerful engine. The model we are talking about is the Octavia RS 245. As the name suggests, the car comes with a 245 HP engine, almost 15 PS powerful than the model which was earlier on sale in India.
As per new import regulations, a carmaker can now bring 2,500 units of passenger cars per year without the need of Indian homologation, but the cars are required to meet the homologation criteria in the international market and Skoda may use this opportunity to bring the Octavia RS 245 to the Indian markets. Skoda sold 500 units of the earlier version Octavia RS.
The international spec Skoda Octavia RS 245 is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 245 PS of power and 370 Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The Octavia RS 245 can do a top speed of 250 kmph where law permits and the car can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 6.6 seconds.
The Skoda Octavia RS 245 measures 4,689mm in length, 1,814m in width and 1,448mm in height. The wheelbase of the car measures at 2,680mm.
In India, the Octavia RS 245 is expected to be the European spec model which will feature 18-inch alloy wheels 9.2-inch colombus navigation system, virtual cockpit digital instrument console, RS exclusive upholstery, powered front seat, ambient lighting, sport suspension, and more.
The earlier model of the Octavia RS was first launched in India at a price of INR 24.62 lakh ex-showroom. The new Skoda Octavia RS 245 will most definitely ask for more moolah.
