Skoda Auto India is all set to unveil its latest offering, the Skoda Kylaq, on November 6, 2024. This highly anticipated debut marks Skoda’s entry into the competitive sub-four-metre compact SUV segment.
Design and Features
The Skoda Kylaq will showcase the brand’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design philosophy, which blends contemporary aesthetics with robust SUV characteristics. The exterior design is expected to feature sleek split headlamps, a wide grille with vertical slats, and black detailing. Roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, and wraparound LED taillights will further enhance its sporty appeal.
Inside, the Kylaq is anticipated to offer a premium experience with features such as an electric sunroof, a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless mobile connectivity, and a virtual cockpit. The interior will likely include leatherette seats and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), ensuring both comfort and safety for its occupants.
Performance and Powertrain
Under the hood, the Skoda Kylaq is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, TSI turbo-petrol engine, delivering 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic.
Market Positioning and Competition
The Kylaq will be positioned to compete with popular models such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza. Skoda aims to capture a significant share of the compact SUV market by offering a product that combines style, technology, and value for money.
Production and Availability
Production of the Skoda Kylaq is set to commence in October 2024, with the vehicle expected to hit showrooms by March 2025. Skoda plans to manufacture between 50,000 and 70,000 units annually, initially catering to the domestic market before expanding to exports.
