Skoda India – Ranveer Singh partnership, big plans for India?

Since the leadership of Skoda in India has been handed over to Petr Janeba, the fortune of the Chez car maker has changed. Firstly, the successful launch of the first compact SUV Kylaq and now the partnership with Ranveer Singh as the first-ever brand ambassador in India.

The growth chart for the company just keeps growing. Earlier, Ranveer Singh was associated with the Maruti Suzuki NEXA brand. He is known among youth as an energetic performer and his image association with Skoda in India is expected to bring more new customers.

Even the press release image has the Kylaq SUV in the background, showing that Skoda is focused on the more budget-oriented buyers. The Kylaq itself has received a positive response due to its aggressive pricing proposition.

As far as the future plans go, Skoda had earlier explained that it is shifting its focus from complex products to more domesticated products. In fact, the Chez car maker has been planning to partner with a domestic car brand to create affordable and mass-market cars.

Earlier, the rumour had it that Skoda and Mahindra were going to collaborate to make new cars in the future. But, that plan seems to be on hold for now. However, there is no such official statement from Skoda yet, whether it has any plans to associate with Mahindra or not.

The current portfolio of Skoda includes the newly launched Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia. Skoda is going to introduce the 2025 Kodiaq SUV and the Octavia RS in the coming months as CBU cars.

Our verdict on Skoda India

Skoda’s strategy in India has been focused on premium buyers looking for quality without compromising on budget. But, it did not work out and now the company has accepted that it needs restructuring. Hence, the partnership with Ranveer Singh is a sign of its seriousness for Indian customers and big future plans.
