Skoda has started road testing Slavia facelift, will get ADAS

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Skoda is planning to update the Slavia sedan in the Indian market. The Czech manufacturer is currently road testing the Slavia in Pune. The Skoda Slavia is likely to come with safety-technology updates such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

Mild Updates to Front Fascia

Skoda is likely to offer a minor nip and tuck on the Slavia sedan. The changes are likely to be around the front fascia only and the rear is likely to remain unchanged. According to sources, a heavily camouflaged test mule of the Slavia mid-sized sedan has been spotted partially revealing LED taillamps and shark fin antenna. The test mule also featured black finish alloy wheels.

ADAS and 360-Degree Camera

While the exteriors of the new Slavia are likely to be similar to the current model, Skoda is likely to offer the car with updated safety features such as a 360-degree camera system and Level 2 ADAS. Both features will help the Slavia compete with the new-generation cars in the Indian market.

No Changes to the Powertrain

While the Skoda Slavia could receive, mild updates to the front fascia and technological updates in terms of its safety, the mid-size sedan is likely to continue with the same set of engines. Powering the new Slavia is likely to be the same 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that produces 114 Hp of power and 178 Nm of torque.

Skoda is also likely to continue with the 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine developing 148 Hp of power and 250 Nm of torque. The car is also likely to come with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox choices.

Volkswagen Virtus Getting Updated?

This also leads us to believe that Volkswagen will also in the near future, update the Virtus sedan with similar features. Both the Slavia and Virtus share the MQB-A0-IN platform as well as the TSI-family engines. Hence, we believe that both the cars are likely to come with minor updates in the near future.
