Czech manufacturer Skoda announced that the company received over 15,000 bookings for the Kushaq in just over 4 months. Launched for the Indian market in June 2021, Skoda offers the Kushaq in 3 variants- Active, Ambition, and Style. As part of the VW Group’s India 2.0 project, Skoda plans to unveil its Slavia mid-size sedan. This project also includes the Kushaq, which has been designed and developed to tackle the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment. Skoda has scheduled the unveiling of the Slavia on November 18th, 2021.
2021 Skoda Kushaq: Design and Price HighlightsÂ
The Kushaq utilizes a design inspired by Skoda’s Vision IN concept from the Auto Expo 2020 in Delhi. At the front, the car features a two-part design featuring clear-cut LED headlamps with LED DRLs and fog lamps underneath. Sporting a wide aerodynamic front grille, the Kushaq also gets vertical slats and a clamshell bonnet with flared wheel arches.
Skoda offers the Kushaq with 16/17-inch alloy wheel options depending on the variant. The base Active MT variant costs INR 10.79 lakh, whereas the top-spec Style AT variant costs INR 17.99 lakh. Skoda offers the Kushaq in 5 colour options- Tornado Red, Candy White, Carbon Steel, Honey Orange, and Brilliant Silver.
2021 Skoda Kushaq: Powertrain and Specs HighlightsÂ
Skoda offers the Kushaq with two turbocharged petrol engines- a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder motor, and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder motor. The former produces 115 PS and 175 Nm, whereas the latter produces 150 PS and 250 Nm. With no diesel engine, Skoda pairs the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre, turbo-petrol engine sports a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox option. Overall, the Kushaq uses the VW’s sourced MQB-A0-IN platform measuring 4,225mm in length, 1760mm in width, and 1612mm in height. Along with 2,651mm of wheelbase and 155mm of ground clearance, the Kushaq sports 385-litres of boot space.
2021 Skoda Kushaq: Highlighting FeaturesÂ
Skoda offers the Kushaq with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with in-built navigation. Additionally, the Kushaq’s interior sports ventilated front leather seats, a leather-upholstered chrome-plated gearstick knob, a sunroof, and ambient lighting. In terms of safety, the Kushaq features Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Rollover Mitigation, Multi-Collision Braking (MKB), and six airbags. Along with Hill-Hold control, the Kushaq sports a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), parking sensors, and a reversing camera.
