Skoda adds Kushaq Ambition Classic variant in 1.0L AT & MT version

Written by Rohit Tonapi

Skoda India has introduced a new variant for the Kushaq. The new ‘Ambition Classic’ variant is placed below the Ambition variant but above the base Active variant. The variant will only be available with the 1.0-litre TSI engine option. However, it will get both the manual and automatic gearbox options. The pricing for the new variant is – INR 12.69 lakh ex-showroom for the 1.0L TSI MT and INR 14.09 lakh ex-showroom for the 1.0L TSI AT.

Skoda Kushaq – Ambition Classic Variant

The new variant is based mainly on the Ambition variant. However, the most significant difference between the two is the air-conditioning unit. The new Ambition Classic variant misses out on the automatic climate control from the Ambition variant.

The standard equipment on the Kushaq Ambition Classic includes LED headlamps, LED DRLs, fog lights with cornering lamps, electrically foldable outside rear-view mirrors and 16-inch alloy wheels.

On the inside, the SUV features a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, a rear parking camera, and a rear centre armrest. The Ambition Classic, however, does not get the dual-tone fabric seats. Instead, it gets black suede seat covers.

Skoda Kushaq – Highlights

The Skoda Kushaq uses the localised MQB-A0-IN platform as its base. It shares the platform with the Slavia sedan, Volkswagen Taigun and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus. The exterior design of the Kushaq is trickled down from the Skoda Vision IN concept.

The Kushaq measures 4,225 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width and 1,612 in height. The SUV’s 2,651 mm wheelbase also offers additional interior space for the rear passengers.

The powertrain options for the Kushaq include a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol. The 1.0-litre TSI engine has an output of 115 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque. At the same time, the 1.5-litre TSI engine produces 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The German brand offers the SUV with three gearbox options – a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 7-speed DSG automatic. The 1.0-litre gets the torque converter automatic, while the 1.5-litre gets the DSG automatic.
