Skoda Academy unveils one-off ‘Skoda Slavia’ Student Concept Car 2020

ŠKODA Academy, the Czech brand’s renowned vocational school in Mladá Boleslav has created the seventh ŠKODA Student Concept Car called the Škoda SLAVIA. The Škoda Slavia is an open-top Spider model inspired by the 1957 Škoda 1100 OHC sports prototype and based on the Škoda Scala. The SLAVIA name commemorates the anniversary of the company’s founding in 1895 by Václav Laurin and Václav Klement who named their first production Bicycle named the ‘SLAVIA’.

Škoda Student Concept Car is designed by 31 students attending the academy. Every step of the manufacturing right from the first draft to the final build is completed by the students themselves with support from their instructors and the company’s experts in design, technical development and production. 

On the exterior, the Škoda Slavia features a special White Crystal Blue exterior colour with contrasting on the Black details on the front and rear aprons and side sills. The high-tech paint finish consists of three layers resulting in a bluish pearlescent effect that emphasizes the vehicles body line. The Škoda Slavia features a signature Škoda grille with chrome-accented vertical slats, sharp and angular LED headlamp units flanking its sides, a sharp air dam with a splitter, mesh grille on the lower intakes, fog lamps and aero ducts on the bumper, flared rounded wheel arches with flowing character lines that make the car appear in motion. 

The open-top roadster features two doors, two seats, angular speedster humps behind the driver and passenger, new boot lid featuring an integrated rear spoiler and the Scala hatchback has been adapted with the open-top by reinforcements under the body and by welding the rear doors in place. The car also gets 20-inch alloy wheels from the Škoda Kodiaq RS and the brake system and wheel hubs come from the Škoda Octavia RS. 

On the inside, the Škoda Slavia features a wraparound dashboard design with a raked dashboard fascia, a centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system, sporty steering wheel, Virtual Cockpit digital instrumentation, a chunky gear selector and special SPARCO racing seats with four-point seat belts finished in black perforated leather. 

The Škoda Slavia is powered by the same a 1.5 TSI petrol engine from the Škoda Scala and produces 150 Hp of power matched to a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) gearbox. 

The Škoda Slavia is the seventh student concept car and students from the academy have built the Škoda CITIJET (2014), Škoda FUNSTER (2015), Škoda ATERO (2016), Škoda ELEMENT (2017), Škoda SUNROQ (2018) and Škoda MONTIAQ (2019).
