Sahara – new Electric Scooter brand in India

Written by Nizam Shaikh

A new automobile brand has been launched by Sahara India, known as Sahara Evols. Sahara will have 5 products under this brand including two electric scooters, two three-wheelers and one cargo vehicle. The two electric scooters will be introduced by next year called Classic and JMT1000.

The brand will also set up charging stations which is the most crucial part when launching an electric bike, as fear of running out of juice is a major concern for electric scooter riders. Hence, the company plans to install fast-charging stations, featuring docking mechanisms. Sahara India plans to set up 57 service centres and has already begun developing service centres in Lucknow.

The company plans to develop a complete ecosystem of environmentally friendly electric vehicles to benefit the forthcoming ages. Fossil fuel driven vehicles emit toxic gasses in the atmosphere which slowly harms us and is also the biggest peril on life today. As research suggests that 1 out 8 people die owing to air pollution, and using a electric vehicle is the sustainable alternative.

The electric two-wheelers are expected to feature smartphone connectivity with 24X7 support, keyless start/stop, online locking system, etc. The motor and battery are expected to be designed by keeping the Indian climatic conditions in mind. The scooter is also expected to get a regenerative braking system along with a high-torque motor.

Sahara India claims that the scooter will be very cost-effective to operate and maintain, with only 20 paise/km of running cost. the bike will also get safety features and an industry-first, distress button which is enabled for map location tracking.
