Rumour! 2021 Toyota Hilux coming to India to rival Isuzu V-Cross

Toyota is planning to launch the Hilux pickup truck in the Indian market. The Toyota Hilux pickup is based on the INV-2 platforms that underpin the Toyota Innova Crysta and the Toyota Fortuner. In the Indian market, the Toyota Hilux will directly compete with the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. Currently, the D-Max V-Cross is the only lifestyle pickup truck in the country. 

Toyota Hilux Design & Styling

The Toyota Hilux comes with features such as an imposing front fascia and butch looks. The pickup truck gets a wide and rugged radiator grille flanked by sleek headlamp clusters. The headlamps integrate daytime running lights, and the Hilux gets fog set wide apart on the front bumper. The pickup truck also gets a high bonnet line and trapezoidal wheel arches. A healthy dose of cladding also runs around the pickup, adding ruggedness and protection. The Toyota Hilux gets a large pickup bed and vertically oriented tail lamps. The Hilux will also come with alloy wheels, dual-purpose all-terrain tyres and a rollover hoop on the pickup bed. 

Toyota Hilux Interiors

The Toyota Hilux comes with a multilayered dashboard that features an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display in the centre. The infotainment system comes with built-in navigation as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The Hilux will also get automatic climate control, semi-digital instruments; control mounted steering, contoured seats for five occupants etc. Toyota will also offer a plethora of safety features, including multiple airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, Vehicle Stability Management, and more. 

Toyota Hilux Engine Specifications

In the international market, the Toyota Hilux comes with a 2.8-litre D-4D diesel engine. But Toyota could also offer the 2.4-litre diesel engine that pumps out 150 Hp of power on the Innova. The 2.8-litre engine from the Fortuner could develop 204 Hp of power. The engine will come with manual and automatic transmission options and also two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options.

Price

Toyota is likely to price the Hilux in the range of INR 17 lakh ex-showroom to INR 25 lakh ex-showroom mark.
