Royal Enfield could be working on a new iteration based on the Sherpa 450 engine and chassis. Following the Himalayan 450, the brand launched the Guerrilla 450, a roadster motorcycle based on the Sherpa 450 engine. Now, media reports suggest that the brand could be working on a new cafe racer motorcycle design. This will not only help the brand capitalise the platform but also offer various product iterations to Royal Enfield fans.
Modern-Retro Cafe Racer Design
According to reports, the new motorcycle could be a cafe racer with a neo-retro fairing on the front. The semi fairing design is likely to be similar to the race-spec GT 650R and is likely to work well especially in the European markets, reveal reports. In addition to this, the Chief of Design at Royal Enfield, Mark Wells also thinks that the neo-retro cafe racer theme would work with the Guerrilla 450 mechanical parts, reveal reports.
While the new motorcycle is likely to share its mechanical bit with the Guerrilla 450, expect, the motorcycle to come with new design 17-inch wheels with road-spec tyres, low clip-on handlebars and rear-set foot pegs. Also, the motorcycle is likely to come with a rear cowling that matches the front semi-fairing design.
Powertrain and Mechanical Parts
However, the engine is likely to be the same 452cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-stroke, 4-valve engine that produces 40.02 PS of peak power and 40 Nm of peak torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension system could be retuned, but is likely to be the same right-side up front and monoshock rear similar to the one that does duty on the Guerrilla 450. The brand is also likely to offer the same electronics suite as well as the instruments cluster.
Expect the Royal Enfield 450 Cafe Racer to make its debut by next year.
