New Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 details

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

The Super Meteor 650 cruiser is currently the flagship model of Royal Enfield internationally. The cruiser bike, although crafted beautifully, had been fighting with its harsh ride quality feedback due to its suspension tuning.

However, this will change soon as the recently spotted test mule shows a set of new suspensions being tested. The test bike has a new progressive rear suspension, unlike the regular spring setup seen on the production model. Additionally, the front USD fork is also fitted with a suspension travel reading device, indicating a possibly new setup.

Meanwhile, the rest of the motorcycle is unaltered and looks similar to the current bike. However, the single-pod semi-digital instrument cluster is suspected to be replaced by the latest TFT console, which is also used on the Bear 650.

Mind you, Royal Enfield has recently launched an updated Hunter 350, which was earlier suffering from the same stiff ride quality issue. After listening to customer feedback, the company finally updated the suspension to offer a much better ride quality as opposed to the stiffer ride before.

Powering the updated Super Meteor 650 will be the current 648cc parallel-twin engine. We expect no other mechanical changes to the bike. However, the possibility of new colour options can not be denied either.

The expected launch timeline for the new Super Meteor 650 is around the EICMA 2025 later this year. Indian customers will probably get the new bike in early 2026.

Our verdict

The upcoming Super Meteor 650 test bike shows that the company is consistently listening to customer feedback. The Super Meteor is a fine motorcycle that offers superb build quality and a strong road presence. The suspension and feature update will give it more relevance among the 650cc customers.
