Royal Enfield Scram 411 discontinued

Debuted nearly 3 years ago, the Scram 411 could not become as successful as its sibling Himalayan. The good combination of soft-trail off-road capabilities and easy riding position did not find enough buyers. Hence, it is now discontinued officially.

Royal Enfield has replaced the Scram 411 with the new Scram 440. The new bike is merely Rs 2,000 costlier than the outgoing model. It is powered by a new 440cc air-cooled engine that generates 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm of peak power and torque. It also gets a new 6-speed gearbox for easy cruising on the highway.

The old Scram 411 had a 5-speed gearbox and it produced 1.9 bhp less power and 2 Nm less torque than the new model. In fact, the new bike offers more features like alloy wheels. The Scram 440 is available in two variants – Trail and Force.

The pricing of the new Scram 440 starts from Rs 2.08 lakh and goes up to Rs 2.15 lakh ex-showroom. It competes with the Triumph Scrambler 440X.

Our verdict

The Scram 440 is a well-put motorcycle for customers who are looking for a daily commuter that can also do occasional off-roading. Moreover, with the new 6-speed gearbox and more power, the Scram 440 definitely looks more promising than the old bike.
