Royal Enfield planning RE-OWN used bike business for India

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Looks like Royal Enfield is trying to get in the used bike segment. The bike maker has filed and received a trademark for the RE-OWN name. As of now, very few motorcycle brands get into the used bike business. With Royal Enfield getting into the foray, customers will now get an option to purchase used bikes from the Organizer sector.

Used motorcycle business

Unlike the four wheeler segment, there are very few used bike divisions from OEMs. One of the key benefits of a pre-owned division is its ability to get in exchange customers. Customers who are unable to purchase new bikes due to budget constraints will be more comfortable purchasing used bikes from official dealers.

Further, with its in-house used bike division, Royal Enfield could offer new schemes like assured buy back options, thus creating a value enchantment for its customers.

Royal Enfield RE-OWN

The bike maker is likely to tie up with existing dealers for this used bike division. Just like True Value is to Maruti Suzuki, the RE-OWN brand could not just be a good expansion strategy but also a way to increase the revenue for the dealerships as well as the company.

Royal Enfield is likely to incorporate multiple checks on bikes that are sold via this initiative. Further, they could also refurbish and service the bikes before selling them. Customers could also be offered warranties for a limited period on such bikes.

Himalayan 450 : More Details

Royal Enfield is finally ready to launch the Himalayan 450. The Indian bike maker has sent out invites to media houses for an event scheduled on 30 October 2023. Along with the invite, a teaser video is released as well.

The new Himalayan 450 is based on a new 450cc platform. This new platform will further spawn a host of other bikes. This new single cylinder engine is expected to be rated around 35-40 BHP and 40 Nm. The bike gets a 6-speed gearbox. The engine also comes with a liquid cooling option.
