Royal Enfield has announced a new partnership with Stark Future. The European Motorcycle manufacturer will help Royal Enfield to expedite its foray into electric vehicles. Could this be a precursor to future electric Royal Enfield motorcycles?

Details on the Eicher Motors Stark Future SL deal

As part of the agreement, Royal Enfield’s parent company, Eicher Motors will invent close to INR 439 crores (approx. Euro 50 million) for a 10.35 percent stake in Stark Future SL. Further, Eicher Motors will also get a seat on the bike makers board, and will be able to work together in the field of electric mobility.

The deal will also enable long-term partnership between the Indian and European companies. Some of the areas the two plan on jointly researching and developing in areas which include electric motorcycles, technology sharing, technical licensing, and manufacturing for Eicher Motors.

On the other hand, Royal Enfield will help Stark with the industrialisation process and take the benefit of the capabilities of Stark in lightweight components and other innovative solutions the EV maker has used in the development of its EV platforms. Both the companies will also be planning to share EV architectures in the future.

More details about the Stark VARG

The Stark VARG was recently unveiled by the electric company. It is an electric motocross bike. It boasts impressive specs like 80 HP power, 938 Nm of torque, 110 kg weight, upto 6 hours of riding time and a charging time of 1-2 hours. While detailed specifications are not yet known, the bike is set for deliveries by mid-2024. There is also a lower powered 60 HP variant.

One of the key highlights of the bike is the fact that Stark’s EV technology is able to compete with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) offerings, without compromising on range, weight, packaging and cost.
