Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 will get alloy wheels in February 2021

Royal Enfield’s flagship motorcycles in the Indian market, the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 are expected to get a set of alloy wheels as optional extra and can be purchased through the brand’s new configurator online. The new alloy wheelset is expected to be launched in February 2021 and the design or specification on the same is not yet available.

The new set of alloy wheels will make the customer’s life easy, as the motorcycles are supplied with a set of wire-spoke rims as standard. The wire-spoke rim does add to the modern-classic appearance of the motorcycle but in case of a puncture, the repairs to be carried out are an endeavour for the customer. Though the motorcycle is equipped with Pirelli tubeless tyres due to the retro-style rims the tyre has to be installed with an inner tube. The new alloy wheels will allow tubeless operation adding to the comfort and convenience of the customer.

In terms of the cycle parts, both the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 feature 18-inch front and rear aluminium alloy rims with 36 spokes shod in Pirelli Phantom Sportcomp 100/90 front and 130/70 rear tyres specially developed for Royal Enfield and match the dynamics offered by the chassis and suspension. The new alloy wheelset is expected to be similar in size and is expected to allow the customer to swap their existing tyres on the new rims.

The Royal Enfield Twins is underpinned by a twin-cradle tubular steel frame designed by Harris Performance and the suspension duties are handled by 41mm conventional telescopic front forks with 110mm of travel, and piggyback gas-charged twin shock absorbers on the rear. Braking duties are handled by a single 320mm disc brake on the front and a 240mm rear disc brake-equipped with dual-channel ABS.

The alloy wheels, when launched, are expected to come in multiple design themes to offer a wide variety of options to the customer and further enable them to customise the motorcycle.
