Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric – What to expect?
The recent spy shots of two Himalayan Electric motorcycles have surfaced from Leh. Both bikes seem to be production-ready and look like they have been brought for road testing.
With temporary TN registration plates, the close look of the test Him-E bike shows a lot of interesting details. First, it uses a lot of aluminium parts, including the frame, subframe, battery casing, and even the chassis members.
Additionally, the battery positioning is underneath the conventional fuel tank. While the details about the powertrain are scarce at the moment, we assume that it will have at least 150 km range when in production form.
Moving on, the brake levers are adjustable, with the rear brake fluid reservoir positioned at the left side of the handlebar. The handlebar itself has a Renthal brace pad and looks fairly upright.
The overall shape of the Himalayan Electric is that of a typical rally bike. The single seat is complemented by a single piece over the fuel tank position. Meanwhile, it has luggage carrier bars wrapped around like the Himalayan 450.
Additionally, it is also equipped with a new headlight design that features twin-projector LED lamps. Moreover, the front USD forks are fully adjustable, and so is the rear Ohlins monoshock suspension.
The test bike seen here has a lot of premium components, which include the SM Pro Enduro spoke wheels with Bridgestone Battlax Adventurecross tyres, petal disc brakes, and a 7-inch ECUMASTER screen with a rally-pod.
Speaking of the launch, the Chennai-based manufacturer has not revealed any details yet. However, we certainly think that it will be ready for production by some time around 2027.
Our verdict
While the Himalayan Electric was the first EV prototype of the brand to be unveiled globally, it is the upcoming Flying Flea e-bike that is expected to launch in 2026. Royal Enfield has already showcased the Flying Flea, and it will become the pivot product in the brand’s EV nomenclature.
