The Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 is the latest entrant to the Adventure bike segment. Recently the specs of the bike were released recently. Now, take a look at its nearest competitor, the KTM 390 Adventure.

The new RE Himalayan 452 measures 1,510 mm in wheelbase, 230 mm in ground clearance, 2,245 mm in length, 852 mm in width, 1,316 mm in height, 181 kg of dry weight, and has a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres.

The KTM’s 390 Adventure measures 2,145 mm long, 900 mm wide and is 1,400 mm high. The wheelbase is 1,430 mm and seat height measures 855 mm. The bike tips the scales at 177 kg.

Hardware differences compared – Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 vs KTM 390 Adventure

Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 hangs on a twin-spar steel tubular frame. The motorcycle uses a 43mm USD front fork with 200mm travel and a linkage type rear monoshock with 200mm travel. The front wheel will be equipped with a 320mm ventilated disc brake with a dual piston caliper and at the back the bike will feature a 270mm ventilated disc brake with a single piston caliper. Dual-channel ABS safety feature would be offered, and this would be switchable in both Eco & Performance ride modes.

The KTM offers the 390 Adventure in 3 variants. These get 43 mm front forks with 170 mm travel and a rear mono shock with 177 mm wheel travel. The units differ in the adjustability of the suspension. The bike has 320 mm disc up front and a 230 mm disc at the back. Customers can choose from both spoke rims and alloys with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear size.

Powering the all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan is a 452cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC with 4-valves motor producing 40.02 PS of power @ 8000 RPM and 40 Nm of torque @ 5500 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox coupled with a slip & assist clutch.

The 390 Adventure is powered by a 43 BHP / 37 Nm single cylinder 373.27cc motor. This engine is liquid-cooled and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
