Barcelona-based Fuel Motorcycles has revealed the Fuel Fury 650, a custom-built rally bike based on the Royal Enfield Bear 650. Designed for desert racing, this one-off machine blends classic scrambler aesthetics with modern rally-spec components, making it one of the most hardcore Royal Enfield customs to date.
A tribute to Eddie Mulder and the Big Bear Run
The Fuel Fury 650 draws inspiration from the Royal Enfield Fury 500, a motorcycle ridden by Eddie Mulder in the 1960 Big Bear Run. The bike’s red and white livery, complete with the “In Gut We Trust” logo, pays homage to Mulder’s racing legacy.
Fuel Motorcycles has reworked the Bear 650’s bodywork, adding a high-mounted front fender, dual LED headlights, and a slim tail section. The custom Alcantara seat, wrapped in waterproof material, ensures durability in harsh desert conditions.
Performance upgrades for extreme terrain
The Fuel Fury 650 is equipped with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, wrapped in Mitas Dakar 6 off-road tires, improving traction on sand and gravel. The fully adjustable suspension, featuring Bitubo rear shocks with gas canisters, provides long-travel damping for aggressive off-road riding.
Fuel Motorcycles has also installed a race-spec navigation system, including a GPS roadbook, odometer, tachometer, and rally controls, replacing the standard TFT instrument cluster.
Powertrain and exhaust modifications
The Fuel Fury 650 retains the 649cc parallel-twin engine from the Bear 650, producing 46.8 bhp and 56.5 Nm of torque. However, the exhaust system has been reworked, featuring a high-mounted silencer to prevent damage during off-road riding.
Market impact and future prospects
While the Fuel Fury 650 is a one-off custom build, it showcases Royal Enfield’s growing presence in the rally and adventure segment. The bike’s extreme modifications highlight the potential for future factory-built rally models, possibly influencing Royal Enfield’s upcoming adventure lineup.
