Royal Enfield Conscious Collection

The newly launched Conscious Collection apparel is a step forward towards attaining sustainability in the company’s operations and brand philosophy.

The new apparel is made out of organic materials, including organic cotton, natural dyes, and Himalayan grass fibres.

The various fabrics used in the Conscious Collection include: 30% cotton and 70% recycled cotton jersey knit, 60% recycled cotton and 40% polyester pique knit, and 22% HimGra and 78% cotton woven blend.

The HimGra (Himalayan Grass) fibre has been sourced from the perennial Himalayan grass, which requires no cultivation and has a zero seed carbon footprint.

The available apparel is being offered in four colours that are derived from natural sources, including acacia catechu, bio-based off-whites, pomegranate rind, and tea leaves.

The recycled components include the plastic water bottles, discarded fibres, and pre-consumer waste.

The prices for the jerseys start from Rs 1,600. Additionally, all the tags and labels have also been made from organic sources, while the packaging is completely recyclable and reusable for travel and storage.

Our verdict

As per the Chennai-based cult bike manufacturer, the new Conscious Collection is a response to India’s growing plastic waste problem. The current plastic waste in India stands at 9.3 million tonnes annually, which is higher than in the big first-world countries.
