Royal Enfield has launched the Classic 500 motorcycle equipped with ABS. The brand is slowly and steadily adding this safety feature to all their motorcycles, well ahead of the government timeline where all new bikes sold in India will have to get ABS as a feature, or at least combi-brake (CBS) on two-wheelers with engine capacity less than 125cc.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 ABS is priced at INR 1.99 lakh ex-showroom. This is INR 15,000 higher than the standard model. For a dual-channel ABS setup, this price bump is pretty much justified. Bikes will be available across all showrooms shortly.
Powering the bike is a 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor producing 27.6 HP of power and 41.3 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox. Save for the ABS equipment and decal, there is no other change to the motorcycle
