Rolls-Royce Spectre electric luxury car revealed

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Rolls-Royce has finally unveiled its all-electric luxury car – the Spectre. The car is the spiritual successor to the Phantom. This two-door electric coupe is the first offering towards the goal of the British luxury car maker to become an all-electric brand by 2030.

The Spectre is unmistakably a Rolls-Royce. It has a long bonnet, clean lines and a fastback boot. It is similar to other cars in the stable, but the carmaker says that the Spectre has been inspired by yacht concepts.
The car measures 5.45 m in length and is almost 2 m in width. It is, in fact, even bigger than the Mercedes EQS. At the front, the Spectre gets a wide grille with 22 LEDs for illumination at night, a revised Spirit of Ecstacy, an upright nose and a swooping bonnet. Rolls-Royce claims a low aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.25, making the Spectre the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever.

Design of the Rolls-Royce Spectre

Up front, the Spectre wears the widest-ever grille fitted to a Rolls-Royce. It’s designed for better aerodynamic efficiency and also gets 22 LEDs for soft illumination at night; the Spirit of Ecstasy, too, has been aero-tuned. Unlike a typical Rolls Royce with a flat and upright nose, the bonnet on the Spectre swoops down to the grille – all of which combine to give it a drag co-efficient of 0.25, making it the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever, says the company. It gets slim LED DRLs at the top with main headlights positioned down below.

At the back, the Spectre gets a large glass area that is integrated sleekly with the tail. The roof panel – from the A-pillar to the boot, is a single piece, making it the largest panel ever fitted on a Rolls-Royce. The car rides on 23-inch wheels.

Powertrain of the Rolls-Royce Spectre

It is reported that the Spectre will have an all-wheel drive system with a combined output of 585 HP and 900 Nm. The 0-100 km/h time is a fast 4.5 seconds. This is a remarkable figure when considering the fact that the Spectre weighs close to 3 tons. It has a WLTP driving range of 520 km.
