Renault RBC compact-MPV spotted testing

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Renault hasn’t really tasted success after the Kwid here in the Indian market. Their previously popular Duster is now not working wonders, and even the small Kwid is far from what the competition manages in terms of sales numbers. And the Captur, it is already dismissed by the market. So, Renault surely needs a mass market car, and this might be it.

A sub-4 metre, compact-MPV codenamed as the RBC. Spotted testing, this for reference will match the scale to the likes of Datsun Go+. Is there a market for such cars? Well, it depends on how it is styled and priced. The Kwid worked, so this might if it strikes the right chords. From the spy pictures you can notice a short bonnet, 3-row seating expected with a large quarter glass at the back camouflaged over here, smoked headlamp, conventional antenna and the RBC was running on steel wheels.

When launched, one can expect a digital speedo console like we’ve seen on the Kwid, a touchscreen infotainment system, AMT gearbox as optional and most probably only a petrol engine on sale. The petrol motor could be more than one, an 800cc along with a 1,000cc option.

This car could be based on the CMF-A+ platform.
