Renault launches Kwid EV with 305 km range in Europe

Groupe Renault’s, Automobile Dacia which is commonly known as Dacia in Europe has launched the Kwid EV (electric vehicle) marketed as the Dacia Spring EV in France with prices starting from Euro 16,990 and with EV incentives in France the prices come down to EUR 12,300 which is approximately INR 14.75 lakh in India. The Dacia Spring EV is available in two variants and is available for both Government use and private buyers.

Powertrain

Powering the Dacia Spring EV is a 44 Bhp/125 Nm electric motor that draws power from a 27.4 kWh battery pack which claims to return a range of 305 km tested on the Urban WLTP cycle (within the city) and 230 km on a single charge on the Highway tested on the WLTP cycle. Charging at home using a standard plug point as well as a wall box charger installed for the purpose takes 4 hours and 30 minutes. The EV also comes with fast charging capability and takes just 50 minutes on a fast-charging station to achieve an 80% state of charge.

Design & Styling

The Dacia Spring EV features an urban SUV design language with contemporary LED light signatures, bumper-mounted headlamps, blanked-out grille with chrome accents, a trough-mesh grille on the lower bumper to aid cooling, squared wheel arches, 14-inch wheels with hubcaps, roof rails, orange accents on the sides, headlamp area, ORVM housing, roof rails etc., a multilayered dashboard the features a centrally mounted 7-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Media NAV and smartphone replication, 3.5-inch colour driver display, reversing camera, 100% electric power steering, electric front and rear windows, air conditioning and seats for four.

Renault Kwid EV in India

Renault could bring the electric vehicle into the Indian market as demand for electric vehicles is currently on a rise. With high levels of localisations and government incentives on electric vehicles here in the Indian market, the Kwid EV is likely to come with a price tag between the INR 10 – 12 lakh mark and targets mass-market sales.
