Renault Kwid EV / Dacia Spring scores 1 Star in Euro NCAP crash test

Euro NCAP has concluded the crash tests for the Renault Kwid EV, which is also marketed as the Dacia Spring in the European market. According to the Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme), Dacia Spring Electric has scored a 1-star rating.

Standard Safety Systems on the Dacia Spring/Renault Kwid EV

In Europe, the vehicle is classed as a Supermini and comes with dual front airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters. The Dacia Spring also comes with a side head airbag for the front and rear passengers. The car also features side chest airbags for the driver and front passenger. The Dacia Spring also comes with ISOFIX on the rear seats. Dacia also provides a passenger airbag cut-off switch and seatbelt reminder. The electric vehicle also comes with Car-t0-Car AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) and Speed assistance. All the above-mentioned safety features are provided on the vehicle as standard.

Euro NCAP Results

Euro NCAP has subjected the Dacia Spring to Mobile Progressive Deformable Barrier, Full Width Rigid Barrier, Side Mobile Barrier, Side Pole, Far-Side Excursion and Occupant Interaction. The vehicle scored just 18.9 total points which is a 49% score for adult occupant protection. The Renault Kwid EV scored 27.5 points which sum up to 56% for child occupant protection. The child occupant protection Crash Test Performance is based on 6 & 10-year-old children. The car also scored 21.3 points which is 39% for AEB pedestrian protection. The Dacia Spring 5.2 points 32% score for safety assist.

Dacia Spring/Renault Kwid EV

The Dacia Spring EV in France with prices starting from Euro 16,990 MSRP. The electric vehicle comes with incentives which come down to EUR 12,300 and is approximately INR 14.75 lakh in India. The EV comes with a 44 Bhp/125 Nm electric motor and a 27.4 kWh battery pack, and a 305 km tested on the Urban WLTP cycle. The car returns 230 km on a single charge. The Kwid EV also fast charging capability.
