The brand also provides the Kiger with a comprehensive safety package, evident from the latest Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme).

Renault Kiger 4-Star Rating at the Global NCAP

Global NCAP, a charitable organisation that crash tests and reports cars to improve awareness among customers. Thanks to the efforts and Global NCAP’s #SaferCarsForIndia initiative, car manufacturers have been increasingly improving the safety quotient on their cars. This will lead to safer roads which are especially important as nearly 80,000 people are killed as a result of road crashes every year in India. This accounts for 13% of total fatalities in the world. But the Renault Kiger’s 4-star safety score will add to the relief of customers who wish to purchase the SUV.

Adult Occupant Protection (AOP)

Global NCAP reveals that in the Adult Occupant Protection department, both the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck was good. While the chest showed marginal protection and the passenger’s chest showed adequate protection. However, it is important to note that the driver’s and left passenger’s knees showed marginal protection as they could impact dangerous structures behind the dashboard. The footwell area was rated as stable, but the body shell was rated unstable. The car achieves 4-stars out of 5 in AOP.

Child Occupant Protection (COP)

In the Child Occupant Protection department, the Renault Kiger scored 2-stars out of 5. The brand used BRITAX ROEMER BABY-SAFE for the 18-month old child and BRITAX ROEMER DUO PLUS for the 3-year old child dummy. The car has ISOFIX anchorages, but they were hidden to consumers, but the recommended CRSs did not show incompatibility. The 3-year old was installed FWF while the 1.5-year-old child seat was installed RWF with the adult belt while offering good protection to the head but weak protection to the chest.

The Renault Kiger subjected to the test was a made-in-India, right-hand drive 5-door SUV. The car comes with standard safety features such as seat-belt reminders, front seatbelt pre-tensioners, ABS, driver frontal airbag and passenger frontal airbag.
