Renault India has come out to announce via a press release that there would be a price increase of up to INR 28,000 across all its range of models. The price hike will be applicable from 1st of January 2021. The price will vary across all the variants in Renault’s portfolio.

Currently, Renault has three models to offer in India, Kwid, Triber and Duster. All these models have got recent updates like the Triber now comes with an option of an AMT gearbox. The Renault Duster is now available with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine which makes 156 HP of power and 254 Nm of torque and this engine is shared with the Nissan Kicks as well. The gearbox options are;  a CVT (Continous Variable Transmission) and a 5-speed manual. The Kwid has also received a facelift in which the design has been enhanced by providing a more aggressive-looking front bumper with DRLs. It is available with two engine options; 53 HP 0.8-litre petrol engine and a 68 HP 1.0-litre petrol engine. There is also an option of an automatic gearbox.

Renault is planning to launch the Kiger, a compact-SUV which will rival the likes of Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, and the recently launched Nissan Magnite. It will be based on the CMF-A+ platform which underpins the Triber as well. It will be offered with the same engine as that of the Nissan Magnite, i.e. a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated motor and 1.0-litre turbo petrol. The gearbox options are expected to be a manual and a CVT automatic.

Renault has its manufacturing facility in Chennai which has an annual capacity of 4,80,000 units. Renault’s service centre is spread across the country with a total of 475+ touchpoints including 200 workshops on wheels and 415 sales points. For the month of November 2020, Renault reported 10,181 units of sale whereas it sold 10,748 units at the same time last year. With Kiger, Renault will try to get more share in the Indian market and bring up some more innovative products in the near future.
