QJ Motor RX electric motorcycle revealed

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Just a couple of days back, QJ Motor announced its entry into the Indian market. The Chinese bike maker is one of the major players in its domestic market and is looking for an expansion into other international markets. Now, the company has revealed an electric motorcycle at the 2022 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy.

What is the QJ Motor RX?

In terms of looks, the RX looks similar to today’s sportbikes. It gets an athletic stance and sharp bodywork. Despite being an entry segment bike, it has features like an aggressive riding position, low-slung clip-on handlebars and pretty aggressive rear-positioned foot pegs.

In terms of features, the bike gets all-LED lights as well as a colour TFT display.

For many of us performance motorcycling enthusiasts, a proper electric sportbike is what many of us have been waiting for in order to fully embrace the electrification of our beloved two-wheelers. While bikes like these well and truly exist thanks to brands like Zero and Energica, motorbikes like the Ego are still well beyond the reach of most average riders’ budgets.

Who else is working on electric motorcycles?

Currently, many of the offerings in the electric space include scooters – be it Ather, Ola, Bajaj etc. For many users, they would like a sports bike but in an electric avatar. So far, there is a dearth of electric motorcycles in the market. We have Revolt and Ultraviolette in the Indian market and Ola might also be working on an electric motorcycle.

Internationally, Kawasaki is working on electric bikes as well.

Performance of the QJ Motor RX

The RX gets a mid-mounted electric motor that drives the rear wheel via a chain. The max power of the motor is said to be 5 kW. This is around 6.7 HP, which is not much but it is sufficient to give this bike a top speed of 100 km/h. The battery pack consists of a 72V, 60Ah lithium-ion battery which gives the electric motorcycle a range of 120 km on a single charge. The charging time is said to be 4.5 hours.

Pricing and Availability of the QJ Motor RX

The company has not yet revealed any information regarding the pricing or availability. That said, it could be available for purchase in the European market by 2023.
