Pre-launch bookings open for new Honda City in India

Honda has announced that the brand has started accepting pre-launch bookings on the much-awaited All-New 5th Generation Honda City through the brand’s online sales platform ‘Honda from Home’ along with HCIL authorized dealerships across India. The new Honda City is scheduled to be launched in mid-July and claims to be the Longest and Widest Sedan in its segment and comes with many first in segment features and boasts to be the country’s first connected car with Alexa Remote capability. 

The new-generation Honda City measures 4549 mm in length, 1748 mm in width, 1489 mm in height and a 2600 mm of wheelbase which is 100mm longer and 53mm wider than the predecessor. Though the height is down by 28mm and the wheelbase by 28mm the sedan promises an even larger cabin space when compared to the outgoing model. 

The new platform features Ultra High Tensile steel with Super High Formability 980 MPa grade steel and improved suspension, torsional rigidity, various insulation techniques that result in improved Quietness & NVH levels. The Honda City has also scored a full 5-stars at the ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) with a total overall score of 86.54 points. 

The All-New Honda City also features the Japanese Katana design philosophy and comes with a 9 LED Array Inline headlamp, integrated Samurai sword-like LED daytime running lights, L-shaped LED turn indicators, a sharp shoulder line, 16-inch diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheel design with Shark Gray paint and Z-shaped 3D wrap-around LED tail lamp with LED side marker lamps. 

On the inside, the new Honda City features a stitched soft pad with wooden embellishments, 20.3-cm touchscreen infotainment system, Next Generation Honda Connect with Telematics Control Unit (TCU) featuring Alexa remote capability, Click-Feel AC dial with Red/ Blue Illumination, an analogue-digital instruments cluster with a 17.7-cm full-colour TFT multi-information display, leather steering wheel, leather gear knob and leather seat upholstery.

The All-New Honda City is powered by the brand’s EARTH DREAMS TECHNOLOGY BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. A 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC petrol engine with Variable Valve Timing Control that produces 121 Ps of power and 145 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission and a new 7 speed CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that produces 100 Ps of power and 200 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission.
