Nissan India has announced that the Datsun brand has started accepting pre-launch bookings for the Go & Go+ CVT automatic variants. The cars can be booked for an amount of INR 11,000 which is fully refundable at all Nissan & Datsun showrooms across India. Datsun has claimed that when launched, the Go & Go+ will be the most affordable CVT automatic cars in India.
In the budget segment, AMT gearbox options have been popular for years now and Datsun is making a bold move by introducing CVT. CVT technology is surely more expensive than AMT, but it offers better drive as well. In the Datsun Go & Go+ CVT variants, the automatic gearbox will also offer a ‘Sport’ mode which will allow for building speeds a little faster, and help at times like overtaking traffic. The CVT gearbox is expected to deliver a seamless, jerk-free driving experience to car buyers, especially to those who might be buying an automatic car for the first time.
Both the Datsun Go & Go+ CVT variants will come with safety features such as stability control, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, engine immobiliser, reverse parking sensors, follow-me headlamps, speed sensing door locks, etc. Datsun claims they have also worked on the structural strength of these cars, and the CVT variants also have better cabin insulation.
Powering both the cars are powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol motor producing 77 PS of power and 104 Nm of torque. This is 9 PS more power than the manual variants and Datsun claims a mileage figure ranging between 19-20 kmpl between the Go & Go+.
The Datsun Go rivals A-segment hatchbacks like the Hyundai Santro, Maruti Suzuki Alto, etc. The Datsun Go+ doesn’t have a real rival in the price range as a 7-seater station wagon, but the closest competition now is the Renault Triber which was recently launched in India.
