The iconic Porsche 911 has received a facelift, and it’s now available in India! The first-ever street-legal Porsche 911 with a hybrid powertrain has made its debut in the Indian market. Let’s dive into the details of this performance-oriented sports car.
Pricing and Variants
Porsche is offering the updated 911 (992.2) in two trim levels in India:
- Porsche 911 Carrera: Priced at INR 1.99 crore (ex-showroom).
- Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS: Priced at INR 2.75 crore (ex-showroom).
This marks the first time the German automaker has focused on creating a street-legal 911 with a hybrid powertrain. The 911 continues to carry the performance legacy associated with its name.
Design and Features
While the silhouette of the car remains unchanged, the 911 facelift boasts several updates. Notably, it now offers multiple new alloy wheel options, ranging from 19 to 21 inches. The GTS version features wider wheels for improved dynamics. At the rear, the connected light design—a signature of the 992 generation—adds a touch of modernity. Active air ducts, diffusers, a new radar, spoiler, and ultrasonic sensors contribute to the car’s enhanced appearance. The OLED tail lights also play a role in the subtle design changes.
Performance and Powertrains
The 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer engine, delivering 394 horsepower and 450 Nm of peak torque. An 8-speed PDK transmission transfers power to the rear wheels, while Porsche Active Suspension Management ensures precise handling. Braking duties are handled by 6-piston aluminum monoblock fixed brake calipers at the front and 4-piston brake calipers at the rear.
The highlight, however, is the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS. This variant features a T-hybrid powertrain—a first for the 911. Its 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine collaborates with an electric turbocharger, resulting in an impressive 541 horsepower and 610 Nm of peak torque. The Carrera 4 GTS employs an all-wheel-drive system with rear-axle steering and PASM Sport Suspension. Additionally, it comes equipped with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, featuring variable electronically controlled rear differential lock and variable torque distribution.
Porsche enthusiasts in India can now experience the thrill of the new 911 facelift. With its hybrid powertrain, cutting-edge design, and exhilarating performance, the 911 continues to be a symbol of automotive excellence.
