Porsche Taycan recalled globally, brake lines faulty

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Porsche is recalling all the Taycan units sold till date for a fault with the brake lines. According to reports, the Porsche Taycan could have a fautly brake line which is likely to develop cracks. Due to this, the brake fluid might leak reducing the brake pressure which might eventually lead to brake failure. Porsche is already developing a new brake hose design that the company will replace free of cost on affected vehicles.

Taycan Recall

While Porsche has not disclosed the exact number of vehicles under the recall, it is being speculated that all units 0f the Taycan sold, since 2020, which could be around 150,000 units may be under the recall. However, only a few units out of these, as less as 1%, could be affected. Also, even though the issue is with the brake lines the Taycan is believed to be safe to drive.

What is the Recall About?

According to reports, the Porsche Taycan could have a problem with the front brake hose. The brake hose is likely to develop cracks overtime on some units. Due to this, less than 1% of the Taycan may be subject to a reduced brake pressure if the brake fluid leaks. Also, this might require the driver to apply more brake pressure than normal as the braking effort might get reduced.

Furthermore, if a red warning light is being displayed on the dashboard of the Taycan, the car must not be driven and taken directly to the nearest dealership to resolve the issue which might be due to the brake hose. Cars with no warning lights displayed are safe to drive reveals reports. In addition to this, sources report that the company is conducting internal testing and developing an optimised brake hose with a new design on the front axle in lieu of safety.
