Porsche India has launched the most hardcore version of the 718 Cayman, the GT4 RS in India. The top-of-the-line Cayman model will cost INR 2.54 crore ex-showroom. The GT4 RS joins the other 718 Cayman models, including 718 Cayman, 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and the 718 Cayman GT4.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS – Highlights

A more track-focused version of the Cayman, the GT4 RS features a much more aggressive aerodynamics package. At the front, the GT4 RS gets a large front splitter, a carbon-fibre bonnet with NACA ducts and guiding vanes on either side of the splitter. The aerodynamic tweaks also continue to the rear and feature a large fixed-wing spoiler and a diffuser.

The interior focuses more on weight savings than comfort. Hence, it gets lightweight carbon-fibre bucket seats. Combined weight savings make the car 35 kg lighter than the Cayman GTS. As for the suspension, it gets an RS-specific setup for better track performance. The mid-engined high-performance sports car rides on 20-inch wheels. Additionally, it gets large 408 mm discs at the front and 380 mm discs at the back.

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS has proven itself on the Nordschleife. The new track-focused variant lapped the world’s longest and most challenging circuit 23.4 seconds faster than a 718 GT4. The total time of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS around the Nordschleife was 7:04.300 minutes.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS – Powertrain

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS shares its engine with the rear-engined 911 GT3. The high-revving 4.0-litre flat-six engine revs to 9,000 rpm. The GT4 RS boasts the kind of figures usually only seen with racing cars. The engine produces 500 PS at 8,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. The powerful engine also allows the GT4 RS to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds. It also completes the 0 to 200 kmph sprint in 10.9 seconds and keeps going till 315 kmph. The GT4 RS is also exclusively available with the Porsche dual-clutch (PDK) gearbox like modern Porsche RS models. Porsche says the gearbox allows gearchanges the same way as in racing. Additionally, the GT4 RS has shorter ratios and no over-drive function.
