Piaggio launches Apé Xtra LDX in India at INR 2,51,586

Piaggio Vehicles, the Indian subsidiary of the Piaggio Group has announced the launch of the new CNG-powered Apé Xtra LDX. This three-wheeler will retail with a sticker price of INR 2,51,586 (ex-showroom Maharashtra). The Apé Xtra LDX CNG is perfect for cargo applications as it gets a 5.5-foot-long deck. Piaggio Vehicles claims that this three-wheeler also comes with best-in-class fuel efficiency of 40km/kg of CNG. In addition to this, the three-wheeler also claims to have the lowest operating costs.

CNG-powered Apé Xtra LDX Key Details

The latest Piaggio on three wheels uses the company’s 230cc, air-cooled, naturally-aspirated engine. This motor is known for its high pulling power, superior working efficiency, and low cost of maintenance. The Apé Xtra LDX CNG makes a maximum torque of 17.1Nm with a top speed of 56 kmph. Piaggio also benefits from increased gradeability of 26 per cent thus enabling easy plying on flyovers and hilly terrain. The Apé Xtra LDX CNG comes with a warranty of 36 months or 100,000km.

Customers’ Demand Based Product

Piaggio mentioned that the Apé Xtra LDX has been developed keeping in mind the customer requirements. The main criteria were to come up with something which is easy to maintain, has low operating costs and also caters to their wide range of requirements. Based on this insight, Piaggio R&D has come up with the high-quality Apè Xtra LDX.

Three-Wheeler Sales On The Rise

As per reports released by the dealer body FADA, Piaggio Vehicles sold a total of 5,643 three-wheelers last month. This is a good 19 per cent increase on year-ago sales, wherein in April 2022 the count stood at 4,746 units. The current market share for Piaggio stands at 8 per cent. The three-wheeler segment sold a total of 70,928 units for the given period. This figure represents a good 57 per cent YoY growth. Noteworthy to mention, the above figure also includes EV three-wheeler sales. In this segment as well, Piaggio is doing pretty well. With the launch of the Apé Xtra LDX CNG, the company is aiming to target CNG-centric customers.
