Piaggio delivered more than 10,000 electric 3-Wheelers in CY 2022

Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd (PVPL) is a 100 per cent subsidiary of the Italian Piaggio Group. It is India’s one of the leading manufacturers of small commercial vehicles, especially in 3-wheeler electric mobility. The company recently achieved the significant milestone of delivering over 10,000 EVs in the calendar year 2022.

Piaggio Vehicles first pioneered the 3-Wheeler commercial electric vehicle industry as it introduced its first commercial 3-wheeler electric vehicle, Apé Electrik in 2019. Since then PVPL has continued to maintain a dominant market leader position in the L5 category. It has a market share of over 40 per cent in this category.

Ape Electrik offers one of the largest range of products within the electric 3W range in both, fixed and swappable battery solutions.  India’s acceptance and the rate of adoption of EV technology have been tremendous. Over the last three years, the EV maker has established that the benefits of switching to 3-Wheeler EVs are immense. As it reaps maximum savings for entrepreneurs and B2B businesses. Piaggio’s 3-Wheeler EV product process ensures that the EV maker sets industry benchmarks as they continue to make significant contributions to India’s EV infrastructure. Having delivered over 10,000 Apé Electric vehicles is a great feat. Piaggio will keep up this momentum and look forward to delivering over 20,000 in 2023.

Piaggio India – The Story Till Date

The Company started operations in India in 1999 with the launch of the three-wheeler brand Apé. Since then it has grown from strength to strength over the years. As it stands, Piaggio is a leading player in the light transportation industry with a complete range of three-wheelers in Diesel, Petrol, CNG, LPG and now in the EV segment.

Piaggio currently has its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Baramati in Maharashtra. It comes with an installed annual production capacity of over 3,80,000 commercial vehicles and 1,50,000 two-wheelers. It is also self-reliant in some of the engine categories as it gets its advanced engine plant with a capacity of 2,00,000 engines. Piaggio has an over 4000-strong workforce that comprises experienced engineers, R&D specialists, plant workers, sales, service and marketing professionals.
