Piaggio announces new Vespa scooters for India

Piaggio has completed 25 years in India. To mark this occasion, the bike maker has announced a range of new product launches. Customers will be able to see refreshed Vespas and Aprilia scooter on the roads soon. Further, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd, a 100 percent subsidiary of the Italian Piaggio Group announced its foray into the performance motorcycle segment with the Aprilia brand.

Need for a refreshed product portfolio

As per the company, Piaggio wants to establish a well defined segmentation in the scooter segment apart from just the commuter category. This means, there can be scooters in the touring, cruising, luxury, racing segments amongst others. The new scooters planned for India would be designed towards different segments and appeal to customers with broader needs.

New Vespa scooter line-up

Amongst others, Vespa will bring in and set-up the concept of luxury scooters in India. Further, there will be a new Vespa edition that will cater to the younger audience and help them stand out from the crowd. This scooter will get dual-tone colour options, for starters.

The Vespa Touring edition will cater towards explorers and creators. These riders go out in the world and discover new locations, create art and share their discoveries with others. Hence the Touring edition will accommodate all the needs of such clientele including carrying all their equipment to travel for quick weekend getaways.

Piaggio will also launch new colours for the existing portfolio. Recently, a limited edition of the Vespa SXL Sport was launched along with a new Racing 60s for the sports enthusiasts out there.

Updates to the Aprilia portfolio

The first major change is the new i-get engine that offered a much better acceleration and gradeability. The company has claimed a best in class acceleration (0-60 km/h) for these scooters.

The Aprilia Typhoon range of scooters will cater to aspiring racers. The scooter will boast of a faster acceleration and is claimed to offer a thrilling ride.

The new Aprilia SXR range will be a high-performance maxi-scooter. It will be a high speed scooter offering higher stability and speeds across multiple road conditions. This will also be the first offering that will cater to the long distance cruising segment on scooters.

Lastly, Aprilia will also launch the motorcycles to cater to the motorcycling enthusiasts.
